Our Inspiration

Prof Janek Ratnatunga

Janek has been associated with the Profitable Marketing Group since its inception. Amongst the many positions he has held in business and academia is as CEO of Institute of Certified Management Accountants, Digital Marketing Analysts at Data Management Systems and Chartered Accountant with KPMG. He also holds or has held a number of directorships in listed and private companies worldwide.

He has held senior appointments at the University of Melbourne, Monash University and the Australian National University in Australia; and the Universities of Washington, Richmond and Rhode Island in the USA.

Amongst his many qualifications are an MBA and PhD from the University of Bradford and a Graduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK).

He is a foremost author on issues on the accounting marketing interface. His published books in marketing include: Financial Controls in Marketing: The Accounting-Marketing Interface and Accounting for Competitive Marketing. He has also published in scholarly journals such as the European Journal of Marketing, Australasian Marketing Journal; Pricing Strategy & Practice: An International Journal, The Journal of Sports Marketing and Sponsorship and the Journal of Advertising.

Mugunthan Balakrishnan (Mugs) 

Mugs has over two decades of experience in UI tools and UX principles, and applies his passion for design and creative leadership roles. He understands that digital technologies have to function well and connect with the user. His design skills and experience in Software development allows him to work closely with engineering teams to bring out the best in the technology applied. He has worked with amazing brands for the past 23 years, including Life Saving Victoria, Techreative, Kids Safe Victoria, Appscore, Brosa and many other great brands.
